Every new business student at Aalto University gets a KY Guide: their introduction to the student life at Aalto. It presents everything a freshman needs to know about their studies, campus, social events, student clubs, and much more. It also serves as a presentation for their interest organization at the school, KY. As the Art Director for KY, I was in charge of creating the 2024 Guide.
Unlike some of the more creative projects I was in charge of during my time at KY, the KY Guide needs to reflect KY’s visual brand. It uses the brand typeface, Titillium Web, the historical visual elements associated with the brand (primarily its Emblem and Monogram), and the brand colors. These are also presented below.
The Guide is a massive undertaking, with the 2024 edition spanning 124 pages and taking over two months to complete. Since it containts a vast amount of information that might be difficult for new students to parse, my aim was to make the end product as logical and clear as possible. I also wanted it to evoke a certain refinement appropriate for both KY as a brand and business students in general.
