This is a collection of graphics for a Discord server, “Rankdown High”, that I frequent. The server’s concept is as follows: The people in it rank different things (from paintings to television show characters to the discographies of different artists) by voting entries out of winning contention. When a certain amount of entries remain, the “Endgame” begins and all participants rank the remaining options. These lists are compared and the entry with the best average placement is deemed the winner. Another alternative is to organize the entries into a tournament-style bracket and have two entries face off against each other in a vote until only the final two remain, the vote between which will then determine the overall winner.
There are six so-called “rankdowns” represented here: The 125 Greatest Paintings of Modern Art (according to a random list we found online), People’s Sexiest Men through the years, Vampire Weekend’s discography, the top 15 songs from each participant’s Spotify Wrapped of 2023, Kanye West’s discography, and Billboard’s top country music songs of 2022. The tables show Endgame placements and each participant’s votes. The animated gif for Vampire Weekend is a summarization of the Endgame results. I often volunteer to do the visuals for these games because it’s a way to combine my love of design with something I do for fun in my free time. It never feels like work, yet it helps me grow as a designer.
